What is (YOUR) Burlesque ??

Ive posted this on the Forum today, http://www.kisskissburlesque.co.uk Have a read and leave me a comment...or sign up for FREE and comment there...you'd be most welcome :)

Asking what is Burlesque is important, we do need definitions i guess...but i want to ask you what is your Burlesque? How do you view it? What is important? and not so? ...and how do feel about other's views on Burlesque? My Burlesque?? Well, its not just birds in lingerie (Though i do love it...but can appreciate Boylesque and Trans just as much too ) Far from it...to me, Burlesque covers so much...the performance art and stage shows are amazing, the costumes and footwear are stunning, the fact that anyone who wants to 'do' Burlesque can...no matter what size, background...if the person has the confidence and the passion to participate at any level, they can. This brings me on to the Community...the Burlesque community is growing, more active...lots happening, the Internet is a big factor i guess, the growth of communities like this forum (lol) is a positive move, enabling Burlesque lovers to hook up and chat, advertising local events...Members supporting each other to get out there, in what ever public or private way they wish.I dont go much into the politics myself, though i do understand the issues...I say just do it, whatever the gender...empowerment vs stripping? big deal...not! What a joke...im sorry, anyone who thinks that women are being demeaned, forced to do it (!) or whatever are just playing silly games...outdated now im afraid...Burlesque can be whatever one wants it to be...it's got a history, oh yes...in fact im reading up and enjoying the learning...and there are the 'Dark Tmes', i cannot disagree that women may have been used and abused in the name of 'Burlesque' just for Men's eyes and self-gratification...It's 2010!! 2010 i said!!

Hehe more to come!

Thats it for now, but i do wish to return to What is Burlesque? but i want to listen and read other's views,

Dust settling...New Members...What direction?

Well, we are now into the 2nd week of http://www.kisskissburlesque.co.uk/ and the dust is settling a wee bit. A few new members aswell...ok ok friends who have been 'coerced' into signing up.

How to attract New Members?...We have feeds in place so that when a member makes a post on the Forum, it gets published to various Social Networking websites, like Twitter, Facebook and Myspace...and the result is that KKB attracts viewers, or Guests as the appear on the Forum.

Problem is...these Guests come and have a look...and then disappear!! I would love someone to actually sign up and become a member...but lets get real here...so the post feed gets published...what is there to read? Answer- not much! so CONTENT is a major factor...something we at KKB will be discussing this weekend, and hopefully...we may have something worth reading soon :)

But...these Guests, who are intrigued enough to click http://www.kisskissburlesque.co.uk/ what are they looking for? what attracts them in the first place? Ive noticed, and i guess it's obvious, we get more hits, and guests, if the first line of the post is, say...a little raunchy!

But even the most mundane first line posts seems to always attract 15-20 guests...thats not bad really...and the time spent on site before logging off is growing...the majority dont just click on and then leave due to maybe it wasnt what they were looking for...Ive noticed that they do have a look around for five minutes or more...so what are they doing? I can track them, as the Administrator. to a certain extent...You can see the name of the member or the amount of guests on all individual boards, they are looking and reading...then leaving...Arrrgh :P

Maybe...finally deciding on a template and colour...and finding a banner from somewhere will help...making the Forum look a little nicer, somewhere to hang out, somewhere to be an active member...again something that needs to improve quickly.

Anyway...just some thoughts...anyone out there want to comment? please go head...as long as it's positive :)

First week in the existance of KissKissBurlesque Forum :)

Well my friends...KissKissBurlesque is a week old :D

...and on the Membership front its been slow...but then we knew this, a Forum needs advertising...we have been social networking, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace to mention a few. Angel (MsKissKiss) found a good site,

http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/profile/MsAngelDevine

The Forum also needs something intresting to read, with regular updates...but with few members its all a bit slow...Angel and i can only dominate the postings for so long...dont want it to be the Valentin and Angel Show!!

Im learning SEO quite quickly...i am actually getting into it, takes a while for it all to sink in and make sense. I am also looking to 'mod' the Forum too, and again, enjoying the reading up on html etc...but at a very basic stage, needing a decent head banner...this time lastweek i had no idea...seven days on, i feel its all a little less scary, just need some confidence, hoping very soon to get something up very soon :)

The overall clolour and tempate of the Forum is blue and basic...spent the weekend trying out all the free templates on the SMF Forum, install...uninstall, and there wasnt one template that we were happy with.

Well...there you go, some mutterings on the goings on at KKb...we have definately jumped off the deep end with this, we will plod on, hoping that soon a few people will show and intrest...and SIGN UP!!

Will be posting reguarly, so watch out for the next installment :)
